It went alittle like this... "take your car and your crap off my property"... however what went missing was much must more than that! I did file a police report and everything but apparently an old vw toolbox isnt worthy the cops worrying over. Anywho i am over the fact that he stole it from me so i dont care about that i AM upset that he would sell such a magnificent piece of VW history for such a little price.. better still why he would sell it at all!!
*sigh * it was the original toolbox that came with my 1959 beetle :(

Bugger, mate. That sounds really messy. If you filed a police report and if the person selling the toolbox is the one who got it off you, and if you want to go to some effort to get it back, I would:

1. contact the buyer via ebay and notify them that this is stolen property and that you have a police report to prove it. In terms of evidence, if you can verify that the ebay seller is the person who took your stuff that would seem sufficient. You also seem to have photographic evidence that the tool box was yours.

2. contact ebay and report the matter.

3. contact the police and report the matter.

What might happen is that the buyer might get their money back and be happy to pass the tool box back to you. Obviously they're an enthusiast to want this in the first place, so maybe they'd feel it was a shame to see this seperated from the original car it came with too. I know I'd hand it back (and reclaim my money - and if the sale was via ebay/paypal then the sale should be reversible) if I was in the buyer's shoes.

I doubt it

You should have bid on it using escrow or what ever its called and then it would of been in someone else's hands and you might have got it back! What a mongrel.
