Bizarre - October 3rd, 2016 at 08:40 AM

What year and model is that?

vw54 - October 3rd, 2016 at 03:57 PM

go to Repco

southspark - October 3rd, 2016 at 06:37 PM

That is a rear light for a country buggy. The difference is that the chrome rim is black on the original. Find some Hella old stock or go for Narva 86010 but quality not as good.

steveo169 - October 3rd, 2016 at 10:03 PM

Yes it's for a country buggy and I have been trawling the internet for nos etc with no luck
I can't get the image I want loaded on this but as highlighted I have tried most option. If anyone knows the quaint old stock trailer, caravan stockist of hella that I could try id be very grateful - chrome or not I'd be happy. I understand that the other brand is not the same size.

Thanks but still no luck!

S

vw54 - October 4th, 2016 at 06:33 AM

there you go I have added a pic to your 1st post

they fit caravans and trailers as well

steveo169 - October 4th, 2016 at 03:46 PM

thanks VW54
that's them

now to get my hands on some

vw54 - October 4th, 2016 at 06:50 PM

As I said try Repco or Ebay or Bursons or Caravan places

Very common a few years ago but may be not now

68AutoBug - October 4th, 2016 at 07:09 PM

Advanced Automotive Australia says they can have them in 3-4 days....

sales@advancedauto.com.au is their email address...

I asked if they had the Hella part number You quoted...

I don't know about pricing??
and cannot remember where they are located...
You can look up their address on their website...
You maybe lucky as Dave said, just about every service station used to carry them years ago as they were Very common on just about every trailer and caravan...
I have some old hella lenses and a couple of tail lamps [both different] in My shed, still in their boxes, but no country buggy tail lamps or front blinkers...

cheers

I used brand new Narva on my country buggy and they bolted straight up to the existing holes in the body.

steveo169 - October 4th, 2016 at 10:40 PM

Lee
I really appreciated the reply from you.
It showed you took the time to even source them
I've sent a message fingers crossed I'm not 2hrs behind tomorrow morning from sourcing a pair
Really a big thanks
Got a cb sun visor lead?

68AutoBug - October 4th, 2016 at 11:02 PM

Did they look the same as the Hella ones????

Narva used to be an EAST GERMAN company under Socialist communist control until the Berlin wall came down on 9th Nov 1989 and then
The DDR or East Germany ceased to exist on oct 3 1990....
the Quality did improve after that... as they had competition now in the free world... and from Hella itself an ex Western Germany company, both companies were now located in the Federal Republic of Germany,..

although I do have some new NARVA switches with DDR stamped on them = DDR = Deutsche Demokratische Republik

and Narva was then a Federal Republic of Germany company....

I was surprised to see Narva products after the Berlin Wall collapse and the end of the DDR Deutsche Demokratische Republik...
Companies run etc by socialist communist governments don't normally end on their feet like Narva did.....
maybe helped by the west German Government...

Bursons have two on stock but they are $ 100 more than the Narva .A lot of the Narva is sourced from cheap suppliers and the quality is the same. Not much of their products come from Germany.

Time to call bursons. The hunt continues

The other mob advanced automotive showed they had them in stock but in reality they don't. They said we'll get them from Hella etc etc etc and low and behold none available! I did give ol mate the warning but he was persistent to give him credit.
The alternate he offered was putrid ...........

Anyway I will call bursons and have a go

Get the best quality you can. I restored one of my beetles over 10 years ago and put on cheap aftermarket tail lights and they typically faded in about a years time on the car. I replaced them several times until I found some NOS Hella ones. I can't remember how much I paid but they were heaps more expensive than the cheap ones.

It is now more than 8 years since I fitted them and they still look new.

I have put an order in and will be picking up a set hopefully tomorrow.
I have gone for hella and they aren't cheap but they are as correct as it gets for a cb

Thanks everyone.
Now stay tuned for more random parts requests.
Steve

I bought a pair of new Lenses made in the USA from acrylic material NOT cheap plastic... about 2002.... lasted about 8-9 years..
I then bought some new VW Mexico lenses which didn't last long at all..
Cheap painted plastic ... which faded then they just cracked... Our UV ray's are just too strong for anything NOT designed for it.... All the tail lamp lenses I see on websites usually have M at the end of the part number which I'm guessing is MEXICO!!!!!
Looks like Hella are the ONLY quality ones to buy..
I did see some with POLYMATIK [or similar] name on them years ago but no country on them... they didn't look like the cheap & nasty Mexican ones... maybe were Brasil????
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Good to see You found some new HELLA ones... for the country buggy, they would have been NOS.... made back in late 60's 70s?? but at a new price...
I always look in old service stations for stuff like that, but not many left now and they are a long way out in the country....
there would have to be some out there somewhere???

cheers

LEE

Did they have the chrome around them....?
I was surprised that advanced auto said they could order them in.... Lee

68AutoBug - October 9th, 2016 at 08:11 PM

I wonder what those front blinker housings are off????

seen a million of those round lamps but never on a housing????

I'm sure that Country Buggies didn"t have them....

amber round blinkers just screwed to front panel.... although it was about 46 years since I saw them.... lol....

steveo169 - October 9th, 2016 at 09:15 PM

Indicators front and rear on wa country buggies had to be forward facing/vertical apparently. It's a wa give away. I'm really happy front and rear are still there.

southspark - October 10th, 2016 at 07:44 AM

Even in those days the Hella book told you to mount even the rear lights vertical, but in the sixties you could getaway with it.
