drivers side exterior mirror & arm

I believe the CB mirror arm is CB specific? Does anyone have an original one and if so can they give the dimentions of the arm. The round mirror is still available with the original part number from a number of sources and the mirror clamps are easy to find as well. I assume the bus arms can be used but I would like to cut one down to the original size or fab up one of my own to make mine as close to original as possible.

Length from the from the bottom of the arm to the bend and the length from the bend to the outter tip would be very helpful.

Also, was the mirror, clamp, and arm galvanized originally?

I dont believe they were originally painted black even though I really like that look.

Photos of mirrors and mounting points would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

I have an original arm and clamp, can't find the mirror its somewhere around which really bugs me The mirror back was aluminum and the arm appears to be Gal but could have been Cad plated I will post you a picture if no one else does.(I am a bit slow with Photobucket so I am hoping someone beats me ) Also where can I source a mirror from ?

It uses a pre 1968 round Type 2 mirror head.

OEM part # 211 857 513

I do not know where you could source one in Australia but Wagon Werks and Wolfsburg West in the United States both carry that mirror head. It has aluminum backing like the originals did.

Both places sell for right at $23.00 US Dollar

Photos would be great ArtyP and arm dimensions would be even better.

West Coast Metrics also carries the same mirror but has a brushed aluminum instead of polished aluminum backing which might look better on a CB.

It is the same VW part #211-857-513 but WCM uses a part number of 211-513M-L/R

They sell it for $24.95 USD.

Worth the extra $2.00 for the brushed aluminum in my eyes.

Arty,
CBKO294 is in the USA in Wisconsin, it you didn't already know that.
You likely can do what you are suggesting, but I thought I'd give you a heads up just in case it doesn't work, for whatever reason.

You could also probably email him pics too. Just check his profile for that info.

Regards,
Steve
