I had a look at one of mine today. It's definitely M10 x 1.5.
It might be just rust, but the thread is a little tight. Perhaps they were all like that? Which might explain why it's not obvious. Either way, the thread gauge doesn't lie, it's just a normal M10 course thread. Mine definitely needs a die nut run over it to clean it up.
