Wheel sizes
Pault - December 22nd, 2007 at 03:41 AM

Hey can anyone tell me what is the standard wheel size that the buggy's came out with.

My car currently has 14 inch rims and I know the standard was 15", but 15 by what?

Will 15 x 5.5 inch rims with the standard offset fit?

Thanks

i think they were 15inch Kombis

What I'm wondering is if 15 x 5 1/2 inch rims will fit without rubbing.

Paul,

Dabe Birchall was correct in stating they were Split screen Kombi rims from the same period. Exactly the same with the large slots.

5 and 1/2 inch rims will work on the rear but you will probably find the wheels will rub on the inner front guards. Anything larger than 590 X 15 get reall close to rubbing in my experience.

Thanks.

You'll have to excuse my lack of knowledge on just about everything VW, so what width are the standard split screen Kombi/Country Buggy rims. Are they 4 1/2 inch?

The reason I'm asking is because I like the look of the tyres on this vehicle and I'm wondering what size rims they would be on. Do you think they would be the standard rims, just with a bigger tyre?

Actually does this car belong to someone on this list. If so could you please let me know what size rims and tyres you are running?

I've seen some 5 1/2 inch for sale but don't want to buy them if they will be no good.

Paul,
The CB in the pic is the ex Ken Walker vehicle here in the US in Memphis.
The guy who now owns it posted the pic on The Samba.
His user name is splitbus65.

I have attempted to communicate with the guy, but I don't think he's real net/email savvy.......at least not when it comes to discussing his CB.
If you are Samba member you might try emailing or PM him from the Samba format. if you aren't, you might consider taking a look at the site and joining.
Maybe if he gets excited about someone from Oz asking about his CB, you might get lucky and receive a reply.
One thing I knew he was looking for was a VW Australasia
roo logo gas cap.....maybe you could use that to open the door with him

Regards,
Steve
