cb john's project?
ztnoo - January 9th, 2008 at 09:50 PM

John,
We haven't heard much about your CB project recently.
I checked your flat4.org thread, but don't see anything new posted there.
What have you been doing?
What are you working on currently?
Have you started on the pan work yet?
How about some pics of any of your new work?
;)

Regards,
Steve

Hi Steve,
didn't spend much time on CB because of preparation work for the first meeting of 2008, building spare engine and box for Vee...
Floorpan needs only to finish dressing up after IRS conversion and weld the halves in.

ztnoo - January 10th, 2008 at 09:03 PM

John,
I found your Vee thread @ flat4.org
http://www.flat4.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=6008&start=0
It looks like an interesting project......just wish I could find a decent translation engine to understand what you did and what is going on with that. Czech is kind of like Greek to me....but that's my problem.
I think you told me you are fluent in three languages and that is something to be very proud of, and I might add, undoubtedly has been very useful to you.
Can you suggest a web site that might aid in tranlating Czech to English?
Hope you can because I feel like a three year old with little ablility to read.....but who can get some sense of things from the pictures.
;)

Regards,
Steve

Steve,
I'm not aware of any translating engine, I think, that language is quite insignifficant , but I can briefly inform you about the project...

cb john - July 6th, 2008 at 02:44 PM

It has been a while since my last post for simple reason - too busy working on CB...stepping to the final stage. The most of the body is finished, now I'm getting ready for final assembly of the body. There are some fiddly bits which can be finalised only with body together.

John,
I was wondering aobut your project progress, so I cruised on over to http://www.flat4.org/forum/index.php  to see what you have been up to.
Wow! Amazing!!! What a work of art!!!

VWCOOL - November 23rd, 2008 at 08:55 AM

yeah that is amazing..
I see that CBJohn has re-created the roof bows, too - I need some for mine. And a roof!

cb john - November 23rd, 2008 at 05:41 PM

Well, as the completed body, all clamped together, ready for final welding was pushed to the position close to welding equipment, front part of the stand packed in and front hit the ground followed by the “ domino effect” of damage to the rest of assembly….bugger !!!
That put me off CB for some time and being busy with the Formula Vee Shannons Nationals preparations ( we won the title again ), I needed some time to get over frustration caused by mildly said my carelessness….
But those days are over now and I have started again yesterday…front part of the body is being remade, the rest has only minor damages which do not justify full rework.
This changed my entire schedule and next big project is pushed to the distant future, but I’m again as hot to finish it as I was at the beginning.

Bummer about the mishap, but good to hear you're back into it

cb john - November 23rd, 2008 at 06:04 PM

Thanks, that helps..

VWCOOL - November 23rd, 2008 at 08:02 PM

yes, my sometimes work colleague Ben mentioned a minor 'setback'

ztnoo - November 23rd, 2008 at 11:15 PM

John,
Yikes!
That is a bummer!
Glad you are back on track now and hot to keep going with the projct.
btw......You've probably mentioned it before, but what was the KO # of the original body???

Regards,
Steve

Its looking really good! Is it going to be a 2008 or 2009 model? LOL

cb john - November 26th, 2008 at 10:11 PM

It looks like 2009 ..

cb john - March 17th, 2009 at 10:07 PM

I've posted some in my home gallery...some more to come...

ztnoo - March 18th, 2009 at 05:14 AM

John,
I roamed around at flat4.org to see if I could find the gallery you were referring to. Took a while, but finally found what I think you were talking about. Great collection of shots!!!

Graham, looks to me there are a 110 pics there, whereas your CB Gallery lists 87 of John's pics. I'm not about to determine what you don't have listed. I don't want to spoil all your fun!

Keep'em coming, John!!!
Super workmanship........just magnificent!

Steve

You've certainly got my attention

ztnoo - April 12th, 2009 at 11:45 PM

I echo everyone's amazement at what John has created by the sheer force of his obvious skills and his resolve to keep plugging away at his CB project.
While there may be others who have similar skill levels, no one else to my knowledge, had taken it upon themselves to specialize in CB body part reproduction.
Due to the great pics and reports on his continuing work, John is, without doubt, the premier CB body and panel expert in the world.
Amazing , simply amazing!

Steve

BrisDubba - April 13th, 2009 at 06:43 AM

Wow, as i scan through the pics I think to myself - wonder if I can do that, and then reality hits me that I struggle with a leggo set.. so best leave it to the experts.. but if those lotto numbers come up I will be placing an order for an 09 Buggy.

Keep up the great work and keep the photos and pics coming.

Is it good or bad?

11CAB - April 13th, 2009 at 02:24 PM

I think Andrew is talking about front suspension, not front body work

Pastit - June 6th, 2009 at 06:19 PM

Hi John, would you be prepared to do a limited run on say front gaurds and lower side panels for CB's? If so what sort of dollars would you want for them?

cb john - June 6th, 2009 at 06:26 PM

Guards are no problem, but you need to specify, what you call lower side panels...
