Frank's engine lid vents, help me out with deciding on the position. Technical excuses very valid! Other suggestions welcome!

So long as they look to be OK... incorrectly situated ones look terrible.... lots of early beetles even ovals have them fitted usually identical to the ones on beetle cabriolets. [convertibles with padded interior roofing].

I'm leaning towards the first photo, but a little bit further spread. The taper is 25mm from the centre ridge, I'm thinking about 50mm out will look good without being too 'squished'.

The vertical ones are too hard to line up perfectly with the window vents, and the dead horizontal looks a bit weird.
