Hey guys

im currently and very slowly restoring my 62 bug and i was wondering if anyone knows a place where i get get a detailed history of pervious owners and the dealer where it was purchased as im making up a detailed portfolio. The dealer sticker says Rockdale, was there a VW dealer there in sydney in 1962?

Any Volkswagen historians speak up

Thanks

Hi

The RTA would be the only people who would hold records, but privacy laws would prevent them from giving the information. Motorways Rockdale were at 364 Princes Hwy.

hey guys, just an update, i called the RTA and they advised me that I can get certain details bout the cars histroy and put me in touch with a branch of freedom of information. They told me I could probably get all the information i need as long as the previous owners would be willing to give their details which he said would not be a prob in most cases. They also told me they could give me access to old rego papers and any other documents they could have.

Hi Luke

That's great news from the RTA, pity we don't have the Victorian sight to use in NSW, I think most previous owners would be delighted to hear that your restoring their car. The other way would be to ask the previous owner who owned it before them and so on.
