Dehne gauge - cable removal
volumex - January 23rd, 2008 at 09:44 PM

How do you get the cable out of the back of a Dehne gauge? (58-61)
The end of the cable at the sending unit has been soldered on to the lever arm, and the other end looks kind of permanent. I want to know if I have to butcher the soldered end (which is looking fairly weak, with a number of cable strands snapped) or is there an easy way to pull the cable out of the gauge housing.

PS who hasn't been watching ebay closely? I picked up a humpback tank with a dehne sending unit for $40.

i think you will have to un solder the nipple from the cable and do reverse to install a new one

ebay send me broke with all the bargains i purchase LOL :lol::lol:

Finally got the %$#$%# thing off, and without breaking anything (which is unusual for me)

Now I just hope it keeps working, it appears that I can't just install a new cable as the other end fits into the housing, and according to Brezelworks it is unrepairable due to the damage caused when pulling it apart.

the gauge must be able to be pulled apart otherwise how would they assy the thing in the first place

looks like you need some nice 1/16 stainless cable to do the repair job

Not sure what you need on the other end of it, but the end you have shown looks like a mountain bike brake cable would fit.
