Put new shockers on the bus
helbus - December 27th, 2014 at 07:26 PM

It is amasing how much difference a new set of shockers can make. The bus goes, handles, takes speed humps, and brakes heaps better. Not a little bit better, a massive amount better.

I put PEDDERS Sports Ryders on. I am loving the new ride.

Pete

I am glad to hear of someone who has a good outcome.
Is your bus lowered at all?
My 76 bay is lowered mildly at 3 inches I feel every bump.

I don't know what type and how old my shocks are but guess I should check this before doing dropped spindles?

I lowered our bus about 100mm with Angus style adjusters on the front and notched rear spring plates. The ride was not very good

Then I put the Suby in, got it engineered, and raised it so it is only 60mm lowered from stock. The ride was much better and more useable. We use the bus for towing and it does see some dirt roads so it is a good height now.

Now with new shocks, it is great.

Peter were the others flogged out or did you just change them to better quality? I ask as I have new but very chap ones in my bus and suspect they could be better.

About 16 years ago put a set of Monroe Gas shockers on the bus. We were doing a bit of dirt road driving. They lasted 14 months and 1 front and 1 rear had totally collapsed. The warranty was 12 months.

Then I put a set of Gabriel shocks. They have been on for 15 years, and for the reasonable price, they have lasted a fair amount of time. They are just worn out.

The Pedders Sports Ryders are heavier duty, and now we are back to going on some dirt roads and towing a trailer with dirt bikes, they have fitted the job well, in the dirt, and on the highway.

I know KYB's and Konis are great shocks too, and I run Koni's in most other vehicles I work with. I just was able to get the Paedders at a good price.
