rust bucket - October 20th, 2015 at 11:52 AM

yeh thanks, my late father and I picked it up about 25 years ago and it hasn't moved far......only worth what someone is willing to pay I guess.

rust bucket - October 20th, 2015 at 01:13 PM

PS If you want one I noticed a even better one than mine at http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/rockingham/cars-vans-utes/1959-single-cab-komb...
1959 Volkswagen Type 2 single cab ute.
Solid and straight.
Split window kombi in primer. Selling $41'400.

Any plans to start work on it?
I just don't have the time or skill to take on yours or even the gumtree one

And could not afford the prices they fetch anyway
Happy with my reliable 2ltr 73 and enjoy just looking at others splittys these days

Might be time to build a carport over it after 25 years
Do nothing else and still wont lose money on it :-)

But would love to see it back on the road

yeh, i do like the lichen but as it happens ive already jacked it up off the ground. i have to get chassis number (I think must be 58-61) first, then front beam, rhs reduction hub and set of wheels so it can be car trailered to perth and rolled around the workshop (my garage) approval from wifey already sought.

It is a big project but i reckon nothing i cant handle....?

that is to much for that one
theres 2 on the dsk fully restored for under that price .
vanell (on the dsk) will take $30,000 for his fully restored single cab
with stock running gear or around $40,000 with narrowed front end 4 wheel discs type 4 motor ,irs, rack and pinion ect .
single cabs seem to not sell as well a the windowed vans or dc's

DubbyDo - February 12th, 2016 at 06:49 PM

Hats off to you bud, that's a massive undertaking there but will be even more satisfying at the end because of it. Keep the updates coming with the bare steel porn

rust bucket - April 19th, 2016 at 10:23 PM

i cut some profiles and had a local engineering company fold some 13 top hats and 2 load bed channels in 1.6mm mild steel for less than $400

adlbeetle66 - April 20th, 2016 at 07:10 AM

Not a bad deal!
Keep the progress coming!
