Lots of rust. Very soft in here could possibly push it through.

Any suggestions as what to do for the short term?

Do most people leave these

Pity about the rust!
Yes, we keep them in. Open it up (I've done it before and can show you how) and give it a good clean out inside.
Unfortunately if you park the car in the open near any tree that has leaves or other rubbish that falls off it, you're going to have to pull it out and clean it from time to time.
Also, make sure you clean out the drain pipes that go from the bottom of the airbox through the firewall!

Yeah thanks for that Josie.

Have had it out for a while now and had it apart also so all the crap is gone.

Have flooded the area pictured above with fish oil to stem any further rust and will use a bit of sikaflex to stop my leak.

Have made some good progress today. Put a new scraper in the drivers door, new door card, window winder and door pull surround looks good.

Have also fitted carpet kit for a 'dry run' and it all fits and looks pretty good. Will get some good contact adhesive and glue in over the next few days.

Retrimmed seats look sweet also. Will post pics closer to completion.

Hooray for holidays.
