VW CHASSIS ID OFF A 1967 AUST COUNTRY BUGGY

Well, here's something a little curious and interesting.
Someone is trying to sell a chassis ID tag off a Country Buggy.

Wonder what happened to the car?
I haven't looked at The Register yet, but I'm betting the number is not listed.
Anyone have any knowledge of this chassis?

The ads states "Suitable for a car".
I suspect if one were to attach this to a vehicle and attempt to register and plate the vehicle, or sell it, either act would constitute fraud.
Maybe a niffy, unique memento, but I wouldn't care to be involved with what is being suggested.

Regards,
Steve

Steve,
Yes, its an interesting exercise because many people including authorised inspection stations ( in New South Wales ) anyway dont even know where this ID plate is affixed to the vehicle.

More the problem as I see it is that the this plate shows the model number as a Type 197 (which is correct) but this only applies to a CB.

There would be more interest in the actual chassis number stamped on the tunnel under where the back seat would be. This is the number the inspection station should work with being the physical chassis number on the vehicle being registered.

I dont have any record of this chassis number on the Register

This article has suddenly disappeared.
When I clicked on the link again today, I received a notification stating "This listing (250530415991) has been removed, or this item is not available."
I had previously inquired of the seller about the KO # and what had happened to the body and chassis, but so far have received no reply.
I probably won't now that the listing has been removed.
