What percentage of CB parts were made in Australia, and what percentage were sourced from other VW parts pools?
What specifically were all the Oz manufactured parts?
Anyone have a list of this info or some bits of info to begin one?

As far as I understand, there was very high procentage of Au content...over 80%..but Bill would know closer figures for sure..
The best detail I have found say that the Country Buggy achieved local content of 85% at the highest point. This was against the 95% loal content
agreement VWA had with the Federal Government which provided manufacturers with tax incentives if they achieved the 95% level. In mid 1968 VWA applied
for a reduction in local content for the Country Buggy to only 45%. Given that tooling and presses were no longer producing Country Buggy bodies or
engine cases you can see why the number needed to reduce.
If you look at the Type 2 components of the Country Buggy I believe they would all have been imported parts as no where can I see that generic Type 2
components were ever produced locally but were assembled from CKD kits. (Steering knuckle, king pins, air cleaner with elbow, rear axle tube,axle
shafts, reduction hubs, reduction gearing, brake drum mechanism, road wheels and some brake components.

Those amber round blinkers were used on trailers , caravans etc...
they were generic blinkers used on anything...
they look very similar to that used on HQ Holden 1 tonners...
maybe the same...
I thought You would have had a country buggy at the Broke fair on sunday Bill...

I think all the electrical parts were made in Australia...
naturally the body... seats.. windscreen... fuel tank... Bumpers...
pedals and gear lever and steering wheel....

As far as I have seen, all the lights were Aussie made and were used as 'generic' lights on caravans etc (which is where I got some replacement rear
lights from for mine). My front lights are clear/white, as are many others that I have seen... I'll stand corrected but orange front lenses weren't
allowed under the ADRs until about 1973, which is when (for instance) HQ Holdens changed thier lens colour
FYI, the local content was based on value of components, including labour, and as the CB was a simple low-cost design with more imported parts than
Beetles the 'official' local content didn't accurately reflect the *actual* proprtion of local parts used
I think my CB wheels were stamped ROH (Aussie manufacturer) but I will have to check next time the tyres come off!

re amber front indicators vs clear, amber was always allowed at the front, bot many cars had clear, the main purpose behind this being that they could then have a dual filament bulb & single lense which handled both the parking light & indicator, ADRs changed this making amber front lenses compulsory
What are ADRs???
