Brain storming needed.
Hi guys,
I have a voilent drive train vibration in my 66 beetle from top of 2nd gear into 3rd and then can be driven out. almost happens everytime approx
30mile/hour
it does not have it from take off or at highway speeds.
vehicle is lowered, and i have checked all obvious stuff.
cannot see any eggs etc in tyre, all engine and gear box mounts look good and fulcrum plates seem to be engaging etc.
no obvious knocks or noise's.
looking for brainstorming to help me find issue?

Thanks Barls, i thought about wheel balance and checked the wheels for eggs etc. but the vibration is really specific on when it comes in and goes.
comes in around 25mph and goes about 30ish mph. no other ranges.
I will prob try another set of wheels on it to proof not in wheels just in case.

have had one on the corolla we had that it spat a weight and was almost undrivable at a set range but was fine ether side of it.

yeah i say its wheel balance, you can get a resonance at certain speeds.
I have experienced this before on a few occasions, in my case was also exacerbated by shot suspension bushes.

3rd for balance, coming from a 4x4 background, I would throw weights in the bush all the time, driving home you would get random shakes at varying
speeds, was usually wheel balance issues.

Try just refitting the wheels in a different orientation to each drum being carefull to try and centre them on the wheel bolts as you do them up
Don't let body work get in the way of real suspension travel

dont over tighten the wheel bolts as this will distort the brake drum
the early 5 stud drums are very flexiable and will distort out of round

also tighten in steps of torque and correct pattern.
