1973 L Bug owners Manual handy anyone?
Gday.
We have some pretty pedantic rules over here sometimes regarding mods.
Basically, I'm asking if anyone has the Owners Manual for this model, could they please tell me what THE BOOK LISTS as standard tyre fitment?
165R15?
5.60-15?
6.00-15?
This will determine what rims/tyres I can use.
Thank you in advance.
Regards,
Dave
EDIT: Apparently I have a tyre placard somewhere?
Anybody seen one on these vehicles? I know it can be a bit hit and miss.
Thanks again.

Hi
As above but this is out of the book.
You will notice that the wheel base is listed incorrectly.
I'm not sure if VW fitted tyre placards to cars that this early

You can view the Lbug glovebox manual here
http://www.thesamba.com/vw/archives/manuals/aug73bug.php
Beauty of Lbugs is they have wider option rims that other models, the 15x5.5" sport rims were only on sport model Lbugs.

........and there you go!
Thank you very much everyone! Steve, that chart is perfect. e even better if it listed 165s coz then I could have 205 rears, now it's only 195s.
Probably be better with the skinny ones anyway.
The 5.5" rims are an interest, didn't know that.
Thanks again for your replies.
EDIT: didn't even read the chart properly myself (obviously WAY too much eggnog.........). 175 radials as a factory option means I can go bigger than
205 rear if I want, cool!
Look out gearbox.
