Atom G4 ECU
Hi guys,
My newly purchased 1967 Beetle has a fuel injected (custom) 1916cc mild cammed motor with a counterweighted crank and I am investigating the specs of
the car etc so that I can be in a better position to get it running better etc.
The ECU is a G4 Atom ECU ( http://www.linkecu.com/products/engine-management-ecus/g4_atom ). I would like to connect it to a PC and need to get my
hands on a ComLink connection hardware that would have come as part of the original package that the previous owner did not provide me.
There is a company in Parramatta ( http://www.advanperformance.com.au/ )
that are apparently the Australian distributor and I am waiting to hear back from them.
Does anybody have a Comlink setup that they no longer need? Does anybody know much about the Atom G4 units working on a VW Type 1 engine?
Thanks
Best Regards
Greg

The G4s use a USB connector, even the G3s were USB. The CommLink's were used on the G1/G2s.

Hi Brent
From my reading, it appears the there is no actual USB port on the G4 Atom box. It needs some sort of convertor cable to be plugged in in order to
provide the USB option.
Thanks

Ok I got it a bit wrong. G1/G2 use the serial link adapter. G3 use a standard USB cable used on some printers. On the the G4 they have gone back to a
cable you can only get for Link.

Hi
Is there a port on the ECU? Both my Autronics use a serial port. My sons Skyline which runs Nistune software uses something like printer cable in a D
shape.
Most ECU companies allow free download of the software which can only be used on the appropriate hardware.
If you do get acess to the ECU make sure you backup & save the current settings.

Hi Steve
I just went to a purchased the required cable that enables me to connect the Atom G4 to a Windows based PC via USB.
I have downloaded their free software and will have a play in the next few days.
I need to speak to the guys at VW Village to see if they can provide me with any information regarding the specs etc.
Best Regards
Greg
