68 Beetle Flasher unit
Hi guys,
Hope you can help, i have an early 68 beetle that has a dud flasher, the part number is 311 941 583B. The car does not have an emergency flasher
switch either. Can i convert to a normal 3 prong flasher unit?
Cheers
Paul

Mine was a dud, they are a servicable item though, and thus pulled it apart and inspected for dodgey's and repaired it. They are fairly simple
inside. Look for any burnt out lines that could be resoldered etc. make sure wiring is 100% correct too! and that all prongs are clean of any
overspray or gunk incase its insulating. Also clean the contacts inside the flasher unit.
I understand this doesn't answer your question, but you possibly might not need to replace it. just helping...

Paul, I have used a 3 prong electronic flasher can on my '68 years ago. I used a Tridon EP35 however as my wiring is no longer all stock, I cannot be
sure how you should wire it. Suggest you seek wiring guidance from others on here that know what they are talking about. I really don't want to
advise you the wrong wiring. Maybe send Joel a PM
Cheers.......Wayne
