Strange vents on '67 splitty.

Anyone know the story behind this vent setup? It's a '67 Panel.

Cheers, Ian.

I've been told these vans were Aussie built and windows were cut in as part of the order.

My PV has these vents as well but no windows. I've been told they were factory vents as it is a commercial vehicle and driven hard. It sure does keep the motor cool.

Normally, the lower (dust sucker) vents were on imported Kombis only, and the top vents (anti dust sucker) were on Australian made Kombis...
Kombi Vans usually have flow thru ventilation vents up high.... 3 or 4 vents only.
This one seems to have them ALL...!!

Top Vents

The top vents on your bus are different to the Aussie ones as yours bend in and the Aussie ones bend out from the car!

The last year model always has oddities like that.

Cheers

Steve

According to Steve Muller (Muller VW Sydney) this vent setup was for an Aust. Goverment order of '67 Panel vans for The Dept. of Water Exploration and Lands or something like that. They all had the same vent configuration and a lot of them had windows cut into the sides to make look like window vans. Steve said he knows of 3 of these vans.
