Accurate oil sender position


Hi all just wanted to pick your brains regarding where is the best place to install my oil sender. I have already installed a VDO sender on a T piece adapter that fits into the standard oil pressure port below the dizzy that also enables a vdo oil pressure sender to be mounted also. The oil sender works well but the temp sender dose not read properly as there is not enough flow and cant pick up the temp accurately. I have removed it from the engine and tested it and it works fine. I know the sump plug sender is a good spot but this would last about 10 meters as my car has a deep sump and is very low. Can you change out the oil relief plug with a sender? I have read this somewhere but I don't want to mess with the pre load tension of the spring if the sender length is longer than the original plug. I also have herd that you can get dipstick senders? May look a bit ugly but as long as its accurate.

hi

You can get the oil pressure relief plug drilled and tapped to accommodate the the sender, this wont upset the pressure springs preload.

There is debate as to what is the best location for the sender, I have always run them in oil pressure relief plug or in the case where the Type 3 filler would normally go and have no failures due to incorrect oil temp data.

Mine is where a type 3 filler normally would be; just need to hook up a gauge. This is where Stan tapped it in on my case

On the deep sump I had on the wench it was in the back of the deep sump, out of the way and worked well, send me your email and I'll send you a pic.
