Cant open bonnet Its open now !!!!
Fitted the bonnet latch on the Oval yesterday, checked everything was working, cable pulling OK, latch operating OK, shut the bonnet now I cant get it
open. The cable still apears to be working OK but the latch is not releasing. Tried the someone pull the cable whilst I tried lifting the bonnet but
no good. Any clues as to how to get it open ???

I just had to reef on mine to get it to open when this happened; you've then got to adjust the tension on the spring underneath so that when you pull
the cable it actually pops.

Push the nose of the bonnet left and right and back as the lip on the lock pin may be stuck under the lip of the catch as well as the releasing part
of the catch
Don't let body work get in the way of real suspension travel

Try bumping the bonnet side-ways, one side at a time, with the palm of your hand, while pulling on the handle. The rubber seals must be in place,
otherwise the flange on the bonnet can get caught on the retaining strip for the rubber. If all else fails, you may have to saw the handle in two, and
unscrew each half.
When you get it open, loosen the two bolts that hold the handle so that the catch inside will JUST slide up and down. With someone holding the release
out, close and open the bonnet a few times....this should align the 'dog's dick'. Tighten the two screws, and then pray.
I'd rather wear a Beetle out by racing it than by polishing it!

ITS OPEN
Got it open, popped the little inspection plate off on the inside of the spare wheel well and managed to get the four bolts undone that hold the catch
to the body. Thanks to all that replied
