I would have it!!!
I love the colour - IF i was picky i would dump the 041's for some CB CNC 044's and they aint my favourite Porsche wheels - but hey, i will
still take it
The bit i cant work out is in this picture i cant see any door lock or window track. Just confuses me.
$30k - IF i had the money i would buy it. It has been done real propper. I really doubt any rust will pop up in a years time

my first thought is...... this guy is on drugs if he thinks he will get $30k for this.
my second thought is ..... very very nice ghia I would have though more
like $15,000 - $20,000, but not $30k
Having said that I know nothing about ghia's and am not afraid to say it.

Yeah, it's nice, ay.
As for replicating it for $15K... You're dreaming. It has nearly $15K of running gear in it!
Anyhow, it's a bloke I know and he's almost heartbroken that he has to sell it. But that's the decision he's made:cry

If it was anything like the ghias I have worked on then it would need 15K worth of rust repairs before you begin anything else.

wiht this ghia, i dont think you would have a rust problem for a long long time. if it it the project panzer car. the body work was done by
'hairy' harris. and he is an absolute legend. if it is so then i remember when this thing came to oz and when hairy first saw it, what he
said about it and when it came out of the dip. it is every bit steel. for hairy there is no other way. i know this as i got my beetle doen thru him.
would be worth every penny.

No offence dude - but dreaming.
"IF" you did al the panel beating, spray painting and mechanicals and had access to cheap parts - you "MIGHT" break even.
Even then i doubt it.
A "base" KG here is ...... what $7 1/2k at the cheap end. De rust it, decent motor, Porsche wheels, disc brakes, paint, interior etc etc for
another $7 1/2k... heh heh heh

Great to see the car completed. That sought of quality comes at a price.
As for the sale price, consider the 72 Ghia Cabriolet that come up for sale recently in SA for $44,000! It sold and appeared at Valla on the Sunday.

Your on
Germanfolks AU$15k is exactly US$9,649.50. Seriously if you can build this car (an early 60's model no big bumper/light rubbish) for this in the
States then I will pay exactly that. Remember I'd like it to be acid dipped, filled with fresh metal, painted and retrimmed, and an engine with
the same spec and those lovely 17" Porsche wheels, just like this one.
I'm already getting excited.
Now I have to sell my Ghia!

Price sounds reasonable to me. if you can do everything yourself you might be able to get it for 15k but would take years of work.
If prices are so cheap in the US, which they are compared to here why are they selling splitties for $40,000US you should be able to build one of them
for under $15k as well or not???????? |
