They don't fit in a bug without going all texas chainsaw masacre on it.

When it comes to N/A EJ25 cases it really doesnt matter, they are all the same, its like saying which is the best 1600 vw case, the design hasn't changed.

I understood that using the subaru trans allowed the the motor to move back about 20mm giving better clearance all round.

I saw no mention of a subi trans but even so they move the engine up not forward unless you wanna chop out the body around the rear seatbelt mounts and clearance the torsion bar housing and firewall.
And I'm guessing by EJ22 heads on a EJ25 that bad62bug is trying to do the conversion with as minimal bodywork as possibile.

The stock SOHC EJ25 heads are too wide to fit a bug neatly, you still have to chop out the bumper mounts, and with that much effort you may as well go a DOHC engine.

We ended up using some fancy triple layer stainless steel head gaskets as the stock EJ25 ones was a bit dodgy with the EJ22 heads on there.

I'll have to check which kind they were, they were double the price of genuine Subi ones though but I was assured were worth it.
