Servicing in Perth

Hey all!

I've recently acquired a '73 Superbug which I'm looking to get serviced (just to make sure everything's in ship shape). And I was wondering if there was anywhere that was especially recommended here in Perth for me to take it to and get some quality service from people who know what they're doing.

I'm a young woman so I've had some rather negative experiences with mechanics trying to swindle me in the past and I'd rather not have that happen again if I can help it.

Thanks! (And also Hi!)

There is only one place worth going to and that is VDUB repairs and spares in Freo!

I second Ashleigh's recommendation - talk with Kurt at Vdub repairs and spares. There are other options but Kurt is probably the best for what you are after.

There are other options, but I've also had some bad experiences too with being ripped off as a female. A certain business in Osborne Park I would never ever deal with. My Dad and I went in on separate occasions to enquire about the exact same work to be done and parts to be supplied... there was a $500+ difference!

Agree, they did some work for me when I was over there in 2011, great service and I thought reasonably priced. :tu::tu:

I know the shop you refer to Ash.... Haven't dealt with them for years due to pricing, location and people sharing experiences like yours.

Billy at volkswest is another good option for simple, no bullshit servicing but V dub repairs has a more inviting shop nowadays...

There is also Gerry Kay autos in Morley who I have heard plenty good about (he has thirty plus years in VWs, just like Kurt and Bill).

Not surprising.

And Yes, I have always found Kurt at Freo to be a straight talker and he put together an impressively solid hi performance super beetle a few years ago so he knows his stuff. A good starting point for your first service and report.

I've started taking my uncle with me whenever I need to get things fixed or looked at because I just don't trust people not to rip me off. Especially since I don't know tonnes about engines. I can tell what's what, but at this point I couldn't tell what was wrong if anything stopped working.

Thanks for the recommendations, it seems like V-DUB Repairs and Spares is the place to be so I'll give them a call tomorrow.
