Help: Clutch Problem 1600cc Bug

Hey guys,

Just put a rebuilt engine in my bug. It's running and idling well but when the car is on you are not able to shift into any gear.

If you move the shifter into first gear or any gear and then start the vehicle it will just jolt forward and stall.

Is this just an issue of not aligning the engine up to the gear box properly when installing, or is this to do with the clutch cable?

Any help/advice would be appreciated :)

Also forgot to mention since new engine swap the pedal does not seem as tight as it once was.

Did you change the clutch or throw out bearing?

Agreed, you havent put a 70s 1600 and clutch into and early gearbox have you?

if so you'll need an earlier clutch with the throw out bearing collar.

It is usually something simple that is overlooked then panic sets in.
