Subi ej25 & vw 091 gearing ????

Got a 69 single cab. Still in planning stage on swap. With an ej25. Are you guys happy with the 091 stock gearing? Or would you change 4th and/or r/p gears? Would like to cruise 70 mph +/-5. I think thats around 110 kmh for you guys. 15" wheels - not sure of overall height. What rpm does the ej25 like to run? Thanks for your opinions.

Hey Mack, another option FYI is the Subarugears reversed 5 speed Subie transmission. Gives you the perfect gearing for your engine, as the Subaru engineers intended.

Yes I'm aware of your products. It would be the best path to take if $$$$$$$ was not a problem. I really appreciate the research/effort you have put into developing these products. Just trying to hear from others running 091 vw if they are happy with the gearing or want something different. Maybe in the end I'll save enough for Subarugear. If an Auto trans. was avail. then maybe the wife would buy in. Any Baywindow eng./crossmember mounts in the future ?

I ran an 091 with a taller 4th gear, 0.88 ratio, behind an EJ25. It was in a dune buggy with 31" tyres and I found it was too tall except on the freeway. With stock bay window tyres, you might find it more usefull. That said, the gear set alone was $400 at the time. By the time I had the trans refreshed and the get set installed, I didn't get much change from $4k.

Personally, I'd save up for a subaru box instead of swapping top gearsets. If Subarugears had been round at the time, that's what I'd have used.
