Alloy wings?
Just a question for you drag racing types, why do you see alloy wings under the rear window/above the engine on
drag Beetles? I guess the obvious aerodynamics but I was wondering also if you get a backfire out the carbie intake
and therefore fire, do they isolate fire risk as well?
You often see the air intake especially on turbo engines coming out through the top of these wings.

I dont think they isolate fire risk. as far as intakes commint through them, Thats just to get as much air in as possible. I think i read on another
post on here that a small lip above the window works better for downforce than the big ones we use. But the sides on ours help straightline
stability.( im sure ill be corrected if im wrong)
Mine was made because Morgan got bored. Not sure if it works at all, but comes in very handy to put things on when working on the engine( or in
stanlys case chips and a drink)

Tools too guy's, doubles as a work bench.....
Also they cover bigger/more engine accessories and raised engines don't fit under decklids too well. As for the air intake, cool inlet air temps is
a big component to making maximum hp.

I use a BIGWIG wing on my oval after running into the mid 10's without one at 128mph , and I seriously struggled to keep the oval in its own lane at
the end of the track in the braking area .
After installing the wing on my oval it has proved to be very stable at speeds to 140mph .
Team WPVW members Ben Ford and Chris Bolton both use these wings also with great success .
The large side plates create a much more direct air-flow over the rear of the car and the top plate supplies just the correct amount of down-force
without creating unwanted drag thru the air .
On Ben Fords supercharged bug we ran an air intake scoop thru the wing to get much cooler air into the engine and it worked a treat !!
I have 3 of these BIGWIG wings in stock for sale .

Big Wig makes some excellent quality parts , the man is a craftsman . These were some mockup pics of the car , we changed the rear fenders and redid
the back end differantly.
