Special Thanks to Moderator Barls,

Thanks Barls for helping me get onto the Dubbers Forum.

After half a millenium I have bought a '67 to restore. YES, I had my last beetle in 1982...

Lotis White I understand. Always wanted a white one.

Thanks 1000%

Ian

Plan??

Ahh The Plan is:

Acquire all the parts I need to replace (anything not up to the job), full strip to metal where necessary, that's about 60% as previously it has had a lot of paint taken off sections exposing the metal and creating surcafe rust.

I will temporarily fix with some protective paint in the coming weeks. Any paint beats no paint.

So strip, clean, reapir and paint, and do an engine overhaul and bring it back to 1967.

Just the slow process of getting parts and learning all I can before I start the teardown. I have had a few service manuals and a very good parts book for about 18 years sleeping in my bookshelf, so joining this forum, and hitting the books should help me acheive a good outcome.

Once its finished I will be able to smell 1967, blow my eardrums when I shut the doors and enjoy it all over again.

I think that it's Polar White.

I read it on samba, so it must be correct.

Paint

yes dulux housepaint or its rattle can white. LOL.
On the back its peely white, and the dash has scratchy white, not to mention the rusty guards white :)

Soon I will get the guards sandblasted and paint them any-white -I-can-buy-from-the-mismatched-colour-mixes from the paintshop, to provide some protection until I can start work proper.

Pacific Dubber, as we have discussed elsewhere, be careful that the quantity of dubs doesn't grow too quickly in the backyard. I am sure they duplicate overnight :starhit:

Thumbs up to Barls as well.
