If you are going for originality then hang onto that clock. I just sold one (because I sold the kombi) and that particular one is rare as it is quartz
and the grey colour. Very rare combo. I shipped mine to the USA after putting it on thesamba.com and it sold within 24 hours. There was a guy here who
wanted it and was willing to pay $250 for it but I'd already sold it. I may still have his details somewhere if you do want to offload it.
My 2c worth is keep it. They will go up in value.
As far as seatbelts go, unless you can find a really good set of originals and I tried for a while without success to find just a set of fronts, go
new ones. You can get "classic style" ones that look the part. There are plenty of safety risks with old belts. Particularly retracting ones.

Thanks P
I was looking on Samba.com last night and found some part sets, I might be able to get an original set and keep the clock
I had no idea the clock was worth that much!
Thanks again

Yeah I tried selling it here and had it on eBay. Lots of watchers and no bids but normally they wait till the last minute. I had a good offer from a
US buyer so took it, they are far more popular, valuable and sought after over there. Funny that they pay good money for a clock but sell a really
nice running rust free Ghia for 3-4k. You'd pay 15k over here for one the same.
I've heard of clocks going for 300 or more but it is all about the buyer on the day and what they are prepared to pay.
Btw just be careful using US seat belts, they need to comply with Australian standards laws and be tagged as such. Lots of os sellers with non
compliant ones. I had similar issues with euro belts in a Land rover. No Aus standard mark means no go unless you can document that they are exactly
the same as ones fitted in an approved imported vehicle at the time ie a US car sold in Australia with US belts still in it as supplied by the dealer.
The US belts are often different. In 74 seat belts were required here so they have to bear the Aus standard or equivalent. Otherwise you crash the car
and you can cop it big time. Not too sure if US belts are cross compatible or not. Might pay to check with the qld transport compliance people before
spending big $$$ to buy and post them here. Originality is one thing but compromising your safety or your kids safety isn't worth it.
