L Bug Brake Master Cylinder
Quick question ..... I'll try and keep this simple, but don't know how successful I'll be.
Is the brake master cylinder on a '75 L Bug different to other similar generation beetles?
I phoned Vollks and was told to order one of these, which I did ... http://www.vollks.com.au/store/Master-Cylinder-Dual-Circuit-RHD-Bug-Beetle-Ka...
I've received it and crawled under the car to check that it's a match and the dimensions seem fine but the mounting plate seems to be on an angle on
the existing one but horizontal on the new one. This will mean that the brake fluid inlets are not at the absolute top of the master cylinder when
mounted but at the 45 degree point or there abouts.
Does this matter? Have I got the wrong part? .... are you all horribly confused?
Cheers
Dean

Wrong part.
This http://www.vollks.com.au/store/VW-Beetle-DUAL-CIRCUIT-MASTER-CYLINDER-SUPER-B...
Or this http://www.vollks.com.au/store/VW-Beetle-DUAL-CIRCUIT-MASTER-CYLINDER-SUPER-B...
should be the right one, notice the angled mount.

Yes, the one You have is a NON SUper beetle master cylinder
for beetles and Karmann Ghias.
If it fits a Karmann Ghia it usually won't fit a SUPER BEETLE..
as the Karmann Ghia chassis is similar to a Non Super Beetle chassis.
cheers

Hi
If you cant find one take your old one to a brake place, get them to sleeve it in stainless and put seals etc in it.

Yep those are standard beetle ones,
Standards have 3 ports, where as Supers only have 2 and the rotated flange.
Give John Sherman a call, he has genuine ATE mastercylinders for RHD Supers.
I got one of him last year, not much dearer than the cheap repro ones.
Dunno why Vollks sell those ones that Mackaymanx posted as they only fit LHD Supers.
Probably anotehr reason they are so cheap
