Dropped spindle install

Hi,

Looking to install drop spindles on my link pin beam and my mechanic has quoted installation will need new link pin kit to be reamed, etc.

If my existing link pins are in good order, can they just be "transferred" to the new spindles?

I was quoted $300 to supply and fit new link pins, + 3 hours labour to fit the spindles, plus the cost of the drop spindles, so not a cheap exercise...does that seem about right?

I'm not sure I understand the process, as I though fitting drop spindles was a "plug & play" process, re-using all my existing hardware bar the actual spindles themselves?

Thanks!

Nah, your mechanic is onto it. Altho it's the king pins that get the reaming, and you forgot to add a wheel alignment is also required

I supplied all the parts for mine & I believe I paid about $150-$180 to get them reamed and assembled onto my beam. So $300 sounds fair if they are supplying the king pins.

Sounds fair.
I had all my parts and got a local vw shop to do the reaming.(cost 50 bux).then assembled all at home.
If I couldn't have done it my self I would gladly pay 300 supply and fit king pins.
