Cb Maxi Pumps on 1916 base motor
Hi Guys just after some advice if anyone has used a CB maxi pump 2 on a 1916 or similar, my motor has about 40-50k on it so wanted to get a decent
oil filter on it, Better late than never! But don't want to go to the hassle of stripping it down to full flow just yet, will do that in the future
though.
Anyone used one of these? Good/bad points?
It will all be OK in the end, if it's not OK it's not the end!

Also anyone know what size pump Stan fits to these 1916 base engines (non counterweighted crank)? I dont have a spare 3 hours to ask Stan...

Just be aware if the pump is larger (say >26mm gears) you will need ot use a thinner oil as the excess pressure can blow the oil cooler as it
overcomes the oil pressure regulator.
I think i did that to mine, it leaks pretty badly, still develops pressure though.

Cheers thanks for that Bajachris88, just got PM of Craig letting me know that Stan fits up 30mm ones, I've never had an issue with oil pressure just
wanted to add a filter, never cared for the standard vw rock catcher much.. Cheers for the advice mate!

26mm pump is all that's reguired IMO.
The in/out style pumps are not my recommendation but when fitting a full flow, it is really your only option while the engine is assembled. The reason
the in/out pump is not preffered is the restriction of the reduced diameter of the oil galleries within the pump body. If using this style tho, I
would use the design that uses the oil hoses as I can't see the sense in fitting the oil filter in the path of the escaping hot coolig air.

Sweet, thanks mate, I plan to go to a proper full flow setup when the motor is in need of a split, yeah everyone is in the same boat regarding 26mm
being enough. Thanks for your advice mate. You were selling good quality hoses and fittings weren't you Matt? Do you also sell the filter mounts and
filters?

I don't think you have enough fittings on the site Matt! Ill figure out what I need and send you a PM, might be a while off yet, still mocking it all
up. Couldn't see the Oil pump mounts on the site though.. What filters do they take anyway? Cheers for all the help.

The filters I use are the German (Knect or Mann) that fit type 4 engines as I believe the filtration and quality to be superior to cheaper versions
but a Z9 also fits which is commonly available ay any spare parts shop.
Yes, the Phenix site has plenty of fittings, I am a distributer but the filter mounts are not listed there, I do have them in stock so certainly can
be included in your order if you let me know.
