Paddle board on a beetle
Does anyone carry a paddle board on a beetle? Thinking of buying roof racks for the beetle as my wife recently drove the kombi into the carport with
the paddle board on the roof and damaged it, luckily she only had one on at the time. Thoughts? Also which rack?

Yeah easily done. I've carried windsurf boards and associated gear on both "soft racks" and fixed ones. Just watch out for increasing engine temps
via air disturbance, pop the bootlid.

I strap my 7'10" mini mal to soft racks on my beetle. No probs, even sitting on 100 on the freeway.

Yep, I have Rhino Racks http://www.rhinorack.com.au/products/roof-racks/vortex/vortex-rl150-silver-3-... on my beetle. I have carried a 4.5m Canadian
canoe, a 1.8m rowing dingy, and as a builder, various ladders, planks, timber, etc. with no problems.

I have carried a 9foot6 mal on the roof of my split and beetle.
On the split it was on a vintage beetle roof rack that I had on there no problems.
On the beetle I cheated. It was on the roll bar and the whale tail as it was a chop top.
That caused a few looks as it sat so high up in the front. I was worried about it at high speeds but steering did not seem to be affected which is
good cause I would hate to stress fracture the middle of the board.

if you have a tow bar it wouldnt be a bad idea to fassion a rear support that bolted on.
