944 alloy trailing arms


Could anyone who has done it pass on any tricks as to what they did to make them work? I have tons of hypo bug parts would be happy to swap parts for knowledge.

eg; do I need to make eccentric bolts for front trailing arm bush/bolts? That will give me adjustment, but is it necessary or will stock bug bushes and bolts work.

Be careful about which alloy arms... there's at least 3 different types of alloy arms and each have different offsets.

Spring plates can be tricky too due to different bolt patterns.

Stock Bug pivot bushes and bolts will work, but eccentrics will obviously give more adjustment/variability.

Where are you, and what bits do you have ?

Cheers, Im running 85 turbo, and have most of it, mainly wondered about how they finally fit up as far as track goes , how much wider is it, hand brake set up, getting bearings.

Hi

Don't buy bearings locally, they are much cheaper at Pelican parts.

I also have the special tool to remove and install them.

I'm running 86 non turbo arms, they gave me 46 mm increase in track per side at the bolt face.

Hi js,

I knew it was you, your white bug is the one I sold to Richards friend in Kyogle.

If you need to use the 944 bearing tool let me know.

I think locally the 944 bearings are about $200 each but $57US from Pelican.

Amazing its a small Vee Wee world, cheers re bearings, Pelican for sure, what calipers are you running on rear?

I got all my brakes and suspension worked out and tuned, took it for 2 runs,1 on vid Ill send you,the other just a 5min blat but,everything was bedding in ,tight , aligned

and...I was stopped 700ms from home turning right and a taxi didnt see me???? and tore left rear guard and wheel almost off. I can fix it but I will sell it after a coat of paint.

He is dodging making a claim, I didnt have comp insurance.

So sticking with turbo L and looking for a splitty?? $30g budget any ideas?
