Type 3 values
Looking for a price range of what is a good price for a Type 3 one in a clean tidy drivable condition ,not one that needs a resto. Thanks.

from what i have seen as realistic price for nice original ones. 7-10k ( very far and few in between)
top notch restored ones I have seen as 15-20k
I seen one bare metal restro go for 4.5k but that was over 3 years ago when their value was a lot less.
look around though, some people just lose interest and let them go for cheap.

I sold mine for 7500, had two guys wanting it and it falls short of your description.
They do vary a lot in pricing. I got mine for 2500 unreg btw.

I know how you must feel, Mick. About 50 years ago, I sold my 'good' car to start my business.
It will be worth it, I'm sure.
I'd rather wear a Beetle out by racing it than by polishing it!

did you take that pic with an iphone?
I always get that with mine, the pics once uploaded to photo bucket or any forum flips upside down but is the right way up on the phone and on the PC.

I'd bet it was taken while he was working on the brakes, it's easier than jacking it up and crawling under the car

you can fix the problem by flipping the photo 360 and saving, then when you upload it again its the right way up.
there is no logic at all in that but it works. when you flip it 180, it still uploads upside down.

I like this thread.
When I first put mine on the road (7 years ago) it's listed value was $3500.
3 years ago (last rego) - the insurance company happily covered it for $6k.
I'm about to register it again and will be interested to see what they think it's worth and until reading this didn't expect more than $6K, though
I've seen plenty for sale with an asking price over $10K.
I swapped it for a case of beer close on 10 years ago and have put around $20K into upgrades and repairs (lots of upgrades/few repairs).
Considering a modern $50K car depreciates to $10k in 10 years a Type 3 is proving to be very cost efficient as a daily driver.
And that's the reason I chose an old VW as my DD.
Tuned Type IV power - shaking out the rust.

When my fastback finished its racing career about 8 years ago I couldnt give it away. I couldnt sell rust free guards at the nationals for $10. Ended
up giving them to WPVW and the body I got $50 for scrap metal.

people are just starting to realise that a type 3 is a very practical car, like a beetle but so much better.
