I don't understand why a engine like that would be advertised on the net, thought it would have just been built for a customer with $$$$$$.. Damn is that how much they actually go for??bonkers!!!

When my Cooper Porsche was built, in 1959, it had a 4-cam engine just like that one.

When I removed the Peugeot engine that had been fitted, a 4-cam was over $100,000 .......so the 356 push-rod engine went in.

The USD130k bid with one day+ to go, is "fire sale" territory.
The last time that this "old rebuild" engine was on the market, it was passed in at USD260k.
A lot is being left unsaid in the description....so, potential buyers are being very careful.

If this was a specific known original engine from a special car...it would go for USD500>1M.
The deal wouldn't be done in public and would often involve a contra deal (swap).

I have a photo somewhere of one of these mounted in a Harley...sweet!!

Hey Greg....Yes, the quad cam would have been 100-110hp and weighed about 40% more than the pushrod engine...so your power to weight way better.

You're ahead of some pretty serious old metal in that corner.
