My New Project (about time)
Hey guys
After talking about it for god knows how long
I've finally started my new project
Basically here's the plan, it is:
Street Beetle
1965 pan (converted to IRS & ball joint front end)
1960 body
Big wheels , big brakes , 2lt kombi auto , and 12A bridgeport rotary
something like this kind of
well this gives you a kind of idea of where I'm headed
I'm hoping to finish this build in a year
(which we all know means 2 , but gotta have a goal I spose)

lookin good
I am not a big fan of running very hot water pipes inside any where as they may be difficult to get to in the future and inside the tunnel is going to
hold a lot of heat.
But its not my car
be good to see another cool looking fast bug
cheers ian

Sweet dude.
Look forward to seeing this one progress.
My radiator pipes run through the car (each side of the tunnel), I just wrapped twice in heat wrap to minimise temp transmittance.
Bridge port rotaries are nuts. And talk with Aaron (20B kombi) about a T3 auto... He builds them to handle reasonable power for a good price

Cheers Ian
The pipes will be easily removable through the front of the tunnel if need be (hope that's never needed)
The only other option was running them under the floor
which considering I want the thing nice and low i'm not a fan of that option

As far as I'm aware
(going by the engine conversion rules, I got off the rta website)
you take the tare weight of the vehicle
(in this case 1965 beetle, which was 860kg)
you multiply that by 3 and that's the largest capacity you can run N/A
(which in this case is 2580)
A 12A =2400 so that's ok
A 13B = 2600 so that's no go
I'm sure aaron will weigh in at some point and confirm

I would try and run water pipes down the side under the running boards
one each side for added cooling and to be able to use a smaller radiator.
also keeping the heat away from fuel pipes etc

Best thing to do to a old beetle, add a bit of water technology.

I will be keeping a very close eye on this build- want to see how you get the auto in and working. Reckon it's a great idea for another outside the
square build.
