[SOLD] SOLD] 1973 1302 EJ22 Beetle ** PRICE DROP**
1973 1302 Super beetle for sale. New project means my my much loved beetle has to go. It has been my main drive car for the last 18 months and has
been a work in progress for that time. I'll do the bad first, the body does have some rust mainly bubbles around some of the windows and along the
bonnet seal strip. It looks to have had some rust repairs done to the kick panels and on the rear pillars but it looks to have been done quite a while
ago and seems to be holding up great. I have fitted an electronic rust kit to it and haven't noticed anything getting worse. However the heater
channels, floor pans, tunnel, pillars and other places are rust free. The paint job is, well to be polite rooted, it is in 3 shades of mustard with
some logan racing grey on a few spots. I believe parts of it were applied using a very fluffy roller as it almost has the texture of rendered cement,
I like it as the rat look is cool apparently
. Now for some good bits, it has the following mods.
EJ22 conversion with front mount pulsar radiator, VL fuel pump with low pressure pump and surge tank, mandrel bent exhaust with hi-flow cat, new trans
mounts with padded straps, upgraded clutch, rear disc brake conversion, dimpled and slotted front rotors, new larger type 3 front calipers, adjustable
front struts, Flat 4 BRM replica wheels with excellent tyres. The interior is currently set up for 2 with 2 leather faced Subaru seats (the stock rear
seat and belts come with it, it's a simple job to refit), Includes the following, kenwood stereo, uhf, navman, tacho etc as per the attached pics.
Also with the sale is a Subaru 5 speed box with the center housing cut down to suit a subarugears conversion also includes a Saco hydraulic clutch kit
and new lock nuts and seals for the conversion (just add a subarugears kit and your golden) also has a set of wide fiberglass guards (second hand and
need some repairs).
Due to the ongoing project nature of it i haven't had the mods blue plated yet so it will be sold unregistered, it is currently registered so you can
test drive though. The car is located at Alexandra Hills but can be seen at Cleveland during work days if required or at Logan shire on weekends if
convenient.

Mini hijack - Question for those who have done this conversion in Queensland, what chance would you have of getting this blue plated?? Looking
seriously at this car as this is what my grand plans are, and if this can be plated reasonably easily it becomes a very viable option instead of doing
my own.

Maximum capacity for a super beetle is right around 2500cc naturally aspirated and 2000cc turbo. Discussions i have had say the swap will be a simple
blue plate procedure with the uprated mounts and brake upgrades aiding with that. The front brakes are slotted and dimpled std rda replacement rotors
with larger vw type 3 callipers so no issues there, the rears are a bolt on kit from volksconversions that have been approved on many other cars in
the past. The seats and seating capacity would need inspection for approval, the rear seat and seat belts are supplied and simply bolt in, the rear
deck just unbolts with 2 bolts to keep the plated seating capacity if required. There are many approved inspection stations that can inspect and
issue mod plates i would recommend speaking with them and looking at the car to access the situation. Please feel free to contact me if you need any

Mike, I don't know how to type this without sounding like a wanker, but (trying to be polite) if it was easy to get plated, why haven't you done it?
My reason for asking is the fact that I live in a town with limited access to an inspector that would have any experience with this type of
conversion, so I imagine it would either not be able to be done here, meaning trips south with a trailer, or be done with a fine tooth comb, which may
involve more work than is financially reasonable. Again, not trying to be a smart arse, I am keen on your car, just wanting to know off someone in Qld
if it is do-able. Thanks

Not a bad question at all, the car has been an on going project for the last couple of years, I still have a few mods that i was working on before it
was at a stage that i wanted to get it too before getting it mod plated, the biggest of which is the installation of a 5 speed subaru gearbox. I have
a box here that i have removed the centre housing and cut it back in preparation for the conversion, the Saco hydraulic clutch kit, flywheel, bolts,
seals and new locknuts are included with sale. However my plans have changed and I'm now building up a 4x4 so i am selling it as it sits. I can make
it available for a third party inspection if you would like, as i understand people being nervous about a modified vehicle. There are things that
would need to be addressed I'm sure and is one of the reasons I'm asking a fair price for it, there is more than the asking price just in parts. If
i can be of any help I'm just a phone call away. Mike :-)

ive heard if you have done a engine conversion and if its a smaller engine capacity then what it orignally came out with you dont need a mod plate for
it. but not intirely sure if thats true and i think youll need a mod plate for the gearbox olso

Don't know who fed you that load a crap but it's way off unless they are getting confused with just swapping VW engines.
you can fit smaller VW engines that is no drama but any engine that is a "modification" fit ie. from a different manufacturer regardless of whether
its bigger or smaller needs to be engineered.
It;s to make sure the conversion is done in a safe and roadworthy method and not held in by duct tape and cable ties otherwise everyone would be
fitting EJ15 and EJ16s and not worrying about the hassles of engineering.

Plenty of mis-information doing the rounds about modifications, most of it is common sense. That's why you need to carry over all the emissions
systems from the doner vehicle, up-rate the brakes and suspension, reinforce the engine mountings etc. But it is not hard or complicated, best bet is
speaking with some people that do mod plating and see what they require after all it's their signature on the line.

Harvey bay that can do it....
