    You can tell its never been on the road when it still has the heaterchannel drain rubbers.

    Sadly you can't register bugs like that in aus unless you pull a shonky.

    One of the local VW guys here in our club has a nice collection including a 2000-ish mexibug that has under 200kms on the clock since new for the same reason.

    That is the problem.

    An 1987 bug would have to meet 1987 ADRs which they don't.

    Same as Ross's 2001 Mexi Beetle, it doesnt have air bags, crumple zones etc

    Most clubs require a current Roadworthy Certificate before they will approve a Club Permit application.
