new to aussieveedubbers, not so new to vw

i have a 1971 superbug which i bought 4 years ago after it was involved in an accident but progress has been fairly slow. i get my license this year so i am hoping to have it ready for valla this year. the plan is to keep it mostly stock but replace whats needed, repair the rust and the damage to the front and to upgrade the engine to a 1776cc
Mitch

ps the photo is from when i bought it!

Good to see you repairing it.
A lot of people would look at that and say it doesnt have 6 volt electrics and terrible brakes, not worth fixing.
