Hey Paul, I've met the guy that made them back in the 70s and 80s, he's agreed to make a select few more sets (so far 4sets have been made) he can make them at any width you want on a 15inch diameter

I believe they are around 2k a set maybe a fraction more...

I know of one older 14inch set kicking around in melb and two 15inch sets so I'll ask around there too...

Adam (Empi) on this forum was selling a set some time ago if I remember correctly. Alternately try Volkspower in Melb. I don't have their contact details.

Adams are one of the sets I know of, now owned by another bloke (not on here) they're being rebuilt as they wereodd sizes etc...

The wheels were made for Dean and his old man at volkspower back in the day, I believe by this same bloke... Volkspower was recently sold so not sure who runs it now...

Onto it for ya Paul...

The moulds for these wheels are in Seaford as far as I know. I looked at them once as I worked in the die casting industry. They are bolted into steel rims from memory.

These are Empis old ones that you are working on for Jase yeah?

I thought original ones had the cleaned domed centre not the machined step in them...?
Could be wrong I mostly do late stuff not wide 5 thou....

What ate the tell tail signs of the different ones? Og are 13s and 14s yeah? The first and second repros and the brand new ones are 15s? Please correct me if I'm wrong...

T3D yep these are Jases wheels, the following pic shows OG on the right and old repro on left, as for original sizes they would have been 14" or 15" as they are the only hoop sizes available to fit these centres.

Cool that's what i thought - smooth centre on the og (no step)

Had a feeling the OG set on the 51 standard beetle in melb were originally 13s but perhaps they were 14s
I'll ask him next time get a chance...

Letme know how you o at volkspower Paul - I've left a message with the guy that currently makes em :starhit:
