All VW Beetle boxes are overdrive on 4th gear
The final gear ratio in the diff makes a difference also.
4.375, 4.175, 3.875

I think what you're asking is do they have a taller 4th gear?
no they don't it is actually shorter.
73-76 IRS bug boxes were all geared the same, they have the 0.93 4th gear unlike the pre 72 which have a 0.89
they made it shorter to keep the revs the same at 100km/h when the taller 3.88 diff was fitted to maintain proper cooling fan speed.
