where does this plug go?

Hi all,
I Bought a new '89 caravelle 2.1 week before last, (I'll get around to putting it in members rides) It's a great driving bus, but I can't just leave it be and assume everything is perfect. So I've gone cleaning and maintainance mad till I know it's perfect, as this is going to be my daily from here on in.

One of the lifters was a bit rattly at start up, so gave it a tweak and while lying under the right side I looked up and saw this random plug looking at me. Anybody know where it goes?

It looks to go under the throttle body?

Hi

I might be wrong but do these motors have TDC sensor on the bell housing that plugs into VW test equipment, like later Beetles and T2 Kombis?

Cruise control?

I read it on samba, so it must be correct.

Sometimes Volkswagen dealers sell spare parts. Amazing isn't it!

Hi Steve, just got in after a tinker.

You are right it heads to the top of the bell housing. Best I can tell from the manual its the "TMNG RPM sensor'' or plug number ''T3'' stating it is **behind the alternator**? and the only thing I can tell uses this plug is indeed the cruise control.

Because the engine is SOOOOOO dirty it is hard to believe it has never been connected, because it is reasonably clean.
