My L Bug
Sierp Bros of Enfield, SA delivered this car new to one A J Huges on 5 Nov 1973. It's original SA rego number was RRJ-463. Receipts that were
with the log books indicate it was in the early 1990's that the car made it's move to Queensland and became 772-BLO. I bought the car in
October 1998 in Brisbane. I drove the car as it was for the next 2 years before the reappearance of some previously poorly repaired rust. It was at
this point I decided to undertake a complete ground up restoration of the car.
It was decided the car would not be rebuilt exactly as it left the Clayton assembly plant but would be updated in some areas. The most noticable
change is to "Red Hot Chilli" paint in lieu of the original Antartic White, and updated interior and sound system.
The car is almost finished now and is about to be re-christened with Qld plates NMN-997 in memory of the ruby red Beetle my mum bought new on 24 June
1961 whilst she was attending Kedron Park Teachers College.

Sweet resto job. Is the pan being held up by some palm trees or or there something else there?

It was actually hanging from the boom of an backhoe - thank goodness for parents with machinery

Looks just like mine...... only nicer
I have no running boards, and no bumpers (but am thinking of putting them back on.......).
Mine is Porsche Guards Red, 1973. It was bought for $500 and luckily all the rust came free. I had to replace both pan halves, and also both rear
window sills, both rear quarter panels (vent area) and about 10 other rust patches. The joys of the superbug

Know all about the rust thing. I'm sure a previous ower of mine had shares in fibreglass. But that's all gone now after a body-off-pan
project and a lot of new steel welded in thanks to my brother-in-law.
I've had standard Beetles up until this one and some of them had their share of rust too.
