Thinking of buying a T3

Can any one help with advice on what to look for with T25 or T3 vans. With the way prices are going on Bays etc it seems I can only afford a T3s. I am wondering what issues to look for when buying, like where do they rust most and engine, gearbox, thanks.

Generally speaking they don't rust.

Get one with power steering. Makes a big difference.
Personally I like the autos. But they drink more.
I believe 1st gear is a weak point in the 5 speed manuals. May be wrong though. Autos are pretty bullet proof. Can get sticky in low till they warm up. Cleaning the internal filter generally fixes this.

Leaking coolant is the killer.
Best advice I can give is look for one with clean G11 or G12++ (or is it 13??)
Whatever. Blue or pink. Not green.
Get a 2.1 over a 1.9.
Bad coolant results in rotted head studs. Rebuild time then $$$$$$$

Good candidate for subi as radiator already there.

Other than that they are brilliant.
You get a lot of VW for you $$$

And yes power steering is nice
