where to buy new type3 parts

Hi Everyone..
Just about to start a type 3 resto and wanted to know the best place to buy new parts. I will be doing the body first so stuff like windscreen and door rubbers, headlights taillights and associated seals, door handles and seals etc.
Any advise would be great..

You need to strip to bare shell all panel n door OFF and get blasted or dipped may be more

to determine RUST cost you at least $1500 or more b 4 the panel work VW performance do great work ( extremely good )

BUT I would find a closer panel shop so you can keep an eye on the progress and payments its a 6 or 7 hour drive to there shop

Hope you have deep pockets

Yeah I realise its not going to be cheap.

Glad you recomend vw performance. Im not too worried about keeping an eye on the progress
They should be able to send me pics of whats happening.
Figured I should do something with the car as its 50 next year and theres not too many t3 panelvans out there.

Fair bit of work to get it back to original............. but hey its only money!!!!
I will post some pics

Cip1.com or Vwispwest.com for the harder to find bits.

Mine is a 65 as well. Polar white. It had windows and a back seat put in by the dealer.
I have the bulkhead from behind the seats and got a set of genuine panels which have some major rust problems.
I hope these can be fixed. Interior could be a drama but I will see what happens.....

I have seen Andrew Dodds but didn't realise Boris had on as well. What colour is Boris'

Ive been in contact with Aaron Britcher in Adelaide about some info and bits as well.
Maybe I should ring vvds and talk to Boris.

The postage calculator on ISP site goes directly to UPS and that's why it is always wrong and much too high.

I order online but at checkout I select "telephone order" that way Adrian Lopez will sort out the best way to send your order ie two or three parcels etc and then he will email you an invoice with the correct shipping - you can then either pay by paypal and accept the order or not buy the goods.

Or just send him an email with what you want and ask him the price of postage.

Just another option for you

Thanks for the info about ISP West postage. I would never have ordered anything from there as I thought the postage wouldn't be worth it.

A few years ago I bought a new OTT exhaust from ISP West which was just small enough for them to ship through regular post at reasonable price, then I also threw in lots of small bits and these add nothing extra.

UPS sucks, I consider them the most expensive carrier in the world.

Dibsy is right - I have just bought a heap of gear from ISP West.
Email what you want and they will calculate postage at a rate that is well under the rates quoted at either their online store or ebay page.
Just now have to wait and see what the quality is like.

I recommend VW Performance

Just remember an hour labour is charged at an hour labour. $80-90 per hour, and there could be hundreds of hours to do a full resto. I know of two Bay busses that were $40K each.

Cool, another PV chap! I have PV0075, also a 65.

What is your preferred quality level?

The chaps who are generally keyed in to Type 3's are T3HQ and ISP West. There are also a few of us who carry a bit too. You just need to keep your ear to the ground.

Nothing is cheap when it comes to decent type 3 parts.
