+4 Cam gear for Type IV WANTED
Folks, looking for +4 marked cam gear for a Type IV motor(kombi 1.7-2.0). Check out your used cams and let me know if you have what I am
after(looking for grades +3, +4 and +5).

It relates to the difference in pitch radius of the teeth on the cam gear, so you can adjust cam backlash.

Have a read up about engine tolerances in aircooleds and doesn't only apply to Type IV motors..
Used for optimum backlash between crank/cam gears(which is why VW supplied different grades) so you don't get gear clatter and poor cam timing.
Anyways folks, check your stashes, there will be a "+4" marked on the machined edge of the gear.
