Information for lowering my 71 super rear end
Just looking for some advise and/or some instructions on what I need to do to lower the rear of my 71 super

Same as a swing axle bug tho rear wing removal does make the job easier.
Do you have a workshop manual? Is the engine/gearbox/interior still fitted to the vehicle?

Yeah i have a workshop manual and the car is a runner.
It's stock height and want to bring it down 2 inches in the rear. Seems like the drivers side sits a tad higher than the passengers does..

A simple description.
Put the rear on stands. Remove wheels and diagonal arms away from swing plates. May find it easier to undo the 17mm hex bolt holding the diagonal arm
in.
Loose the guard about the first 4 or so bolts to give you better access.
Undo the swing arm cap and remove. At this point the swing arm can swing down so be aware it wants to do that under pressure. It doesn't want to move
upwardso this should always be your safe working area. (Above)
Lever the swing arm off its stop. Choose your method. Pry bar or hammer. If it is a twin plate you can easily lever from both ends. Remember don't go
below the swing arm!

On e it's loose don't remove from its location just make sure it's fully down and mark the original position.
At this point do the otherside to.
Setting is up or down from there. I always use trial and error to set height. Just make sure the two sides are the same.
Putting them back in is easier with longer bolt in the cap. Put 3 in. Jack the arm up and onto it's stop. Then put the forth bolt in. Do up bolts
till you can replace with original. One at a time.

If you think the rear suspension isn't level then you need to measure on a flat surface to the underside of the torsion bar tube. This will let you
know if it is the suspension. Could be a weaker torsion bar or a previous owner tried adjusting the rear but didn't quite get it right.
Use this website to help figure out the correct number of inner and outer splines required to level the rear. Beetle Rear lower spline guide
