Adrian's old van = quick profit?

I was very interested in Adrian's old van, he had it on carsales for 27.5k not sure what he actually got.

But here it is around one month later for 33k

    http://www.carsales.com.au/private/details/Volkswagen-Kombi-Transporter-1957/...

Sure I guess who ever bought it can do what they want, but where I come from that sorta instant mark up has a two word term attached "greedy c@&$"

But hey who knows maybe he spent a fat wad updating it? Riiiiiight.

I was taught to work a fair day to expect a fair days pay by me dad may he rip, we were never in danger of being rich but not poor either and I have always held that as an ethical rule.
Buying something and expecting more for doing nothing, sure a lot of people do it, hardly sounds like something to aspire to or encourage. Then maybe I am just an outdated ethical snob :)

I sort of agree that it is a free market, but there must be some level of style.

A couple of months ago a Camper was advertised on car sales for under $20k
It sold quickly and turns out to be a mint RHD Westy import.
A week later it was back on car sales for over $40k

Not there now so assume sold.

Picking up a bargain is one thing.
    Flipping something is another
But down right gouging and re advertising in the same place is just crass.

Just hope they paid the sticker price and not knock em down

Easy to see that a few people here have never been in business.

When you learn about the mark up at retailers, then you truly have something to complain about.

Difference in cars and a small "enthusiast" community is we almost always know the purchase and sell price so we hate when someone is profiteering without a hard days yakka.

Dollars talk, that's the story, if I had the chance to buy some item at a $ cost below what I knew it to be worth and I had the $ then I reckon I'd buy it IF I WAS PREPARED TO TAKE THE GAMBLE that I could move it on at a profit. Mind you there is more than one person on this forum who has received something from me at no charge or a greatly reduced price if I thought that they deserved it for some reason or it was something that I just wanted out of my shed. I'd never regard making a profit as a crime, it will only sell for what someone else thinks it's worth or is prepared to pay.

^^^ If you are happy with what you sell it for then everything else is irrelevant.
If you aren't happy with what you are selling it for then don't.
