Diesel conversion

Just picking some brains.Has anybody ever had anything to do with sticking a 4 cylinder diesel into a VW. If so, what type of engine was used and any info on an adaptor plate used? Was thinking maybe a Mitsubishi from a Pajero.

The south African t3 kombis could be had with 1.6ltr diesel golf motors. So the bellhousings are a factory part if using a kombi box. I am under the impression that the block bolt pattern remained the same throughout the 90s, so you can even put the 1.9T in there.

Thanks-would be using a Bus auto trans-so that will work. What does a 1.9T come in here? I remember reading some years ago that some body did an adapter plate to fit a Mitsubishi diesel from a Pajero to a VW trans.

Mk IV Golfs and New Beetles.

Thought there was a UK version where they used a Fiesta motor.

Maybe confused

Have seen the VW diesel conversion kit on eBay.
